The Wannabe Mamas!

I am starting this thread for a group of ladies that already frequently communicate through journals and PMs. Since we already stalk one another's journals and countdown pages... I thought it might be nice for us to have a discussion forum, where we can frequently communicate our day to day ups and downs. Please re-introduce yourself and give us a summary of your journey to date!

My story:
DH and I have been TTC #1 since June 2012. In October, we found out that DH has a varicocele causing poor morphology (1-2%). This makes it difficult for us to conceive on our own. We are on some looong wait lists to see specialists. We need to see a urologist about possible surgery and a fertility specialist about possible IUI or IVF. Right now we are loking at 8-10 month wait times, but we might be able to get DH into a urologist much sooner if we can get into a clinic in the next province over. We are currently working toward making that happen! The surgery has about 50/50 odds of working. But we are hoping it works for us!

Good luck, Britt!! I always say the same things... "surely it'll happen when it's most inconvenient" haha! Crossing my fingers for you! Question for you... when did your doctor tell you to start the progesterone? How many DPO? I have done progesterone at +OPK for 2 months now and a friend told me yesterday that if you take it too soon you can prevent ovulation (bc your body is getting the progesterone signals too soon and won't ovulate) and having too much will create the lining to be too thick for implantation. I'm thinking about waiting until 3DPO to take it this time (Tuesday) but I wanted your thoughts on it too. I'm really wondering if the progesterone was keeping me from ovulating the last 2 months. We started trying in April (first month off BC) and I got pregnant May and June... so not getting pregnant after 2 months makes me wonder if I wasn't ovulating... boo to that!! haha! GL!!

Oh ya progesterone can keep you from ovulating if you take it too soon. The docs usually say take it after you ovulate for that reason I think? I plan on starting to take it about 3 dpo too. Or after I get a bbt rise. I think it can stop ovulation dead in its tracks. But I am drinking grapefruit juice right now to help bring on ovulation...yuck :) Its so sour I really hope this is our month, I have had two other friends who just got their bfps so I had to mentally wave goodbye to them because I am still here for who knows how long lol. But I am banking on this month. Gotta be confident!!!!!! :) Do you have any side affects of progesterone? I have never taken it before so I dunno.

Hi, My story starts in March when I lost my son at 16wks 4 days due to a cord accident, then we lost twin blighted ovums in August and now we lost a baby at 10 wks 3days because at the beginning a twin had started to form but didn't make it, everything would have been ok if my body reabsorbed the twin but my body decided to pass the other twin and couldn't stop until I also lost the living baby (this was during christmas)

Now my dr is thinking my losses may seem unrelated but they may actually be caused by an underlying clotting disorder that has just become more prevalent since delivering my 3rd child in 2009. He said that I can have the testing done in 12 weeks but until then I can take baby aspirin daily just in case we conceive before the testing can be ordered.

although I'm also wondering if I could possibly have a underactive thyroid too, as I happened to see a dr oz that was talking about an at home "test" that could indicate a thyroid problem... the test is to take your bbt to 1 week and if the average temp is under 98 degrees then to consider testing for a thyroid problem.... as I've been crazy ttc this year I have of course done bbt and my bbt temps range from as low as 95 up to about 97

any ideas or suggestions for me?

Britt....try warming up your grapefruit juice like a hot tea! When I was pregnant with my son 10 years ago I did that because I couldn't drink caffeinated beverages as I had previously. So, I found that tip in a pregnancy magazine...heating up grapefruit juice in a mug like you would a warm/hot tea in the microwave. To me, it was yummy! Better than straight cold juice. Maybe you could add something to spice it up...honey? Eh, maybe not....try searching for it online....see if other women mix anything with their grapefruit teas!

Where is Jazzy and Michelle?! Hope all is well!

I said that at noon I would get off my butt and start my weekend house chores....laundry, cleaning, etc. Just made a nice cup of Tazo Green tea mixed with some local honey I got for Xmas from a family friend. LOVE honey....so she got me a huge mason jar filled with the gooey goodness! Topped it off with some ribbons and a label....Merry Xmas! LOL. Yummiest gift ever!

I've got....ummm....exactly 20 more minutes to sit on my butt here....heehee.

Thanks for the information!! I really do wonder if that was my problem the last 2 months... I was taking it the day of my +OPK. Not giving my body time to ovulate. FINGERS ARE CROSSED for this month!!

The progesterone... it's a love-hate relationship. haha! I love what it does for me. But I also hate it at the same time. I truly believe the progesterone is the reason I had my D&C last time as opposed to MC'ing naturally. But I think the reason I MC'd is because I took it too late (it was 8 days after BFP that I got on it). And it caused PG symptoms for SO long after baby passed. Anyway... during the 2WW... I take the pill (prometrium, I think it's called) and I take it at night because it makes me really light headed and makes me feel almost drunk. But that might just be me, because other people I know take it and feel fine. It always messes me up though! haha! Gotta love it at the end of the day though because it does wonderful things! You'll have to keep me posted as to how it makes you feel!

WELCOME ACCORDING! Your story breaks my heart. I can't imagine what you have went through. You are a strong woman, that's for sure.

Seems a lot of doctors want to think it may be blood clotting disorder for us who experience multiple losses....just from talking to all of the ladies on here. Mine suggested that after my loss and I was tested immediately....and turns out I don't have one. However, I had a HUGE blood clot that developed between the placenta and uterine wall during my 7 week pregnancy. Fluke? Probably. So, I guess with or without a clotting disorder, we can develop them. The baby asprin regime sounds good until you can get tested. Better safe than sorry that's for sure.

I am so glad you mentioned the temping and thyroid correlation. Interestingly enough, I don't have a thyroid (removed in 2004) and my levels are always up and down like a rollercoaster. My average temp is between 97.0 and 97.2 in the morning....and will shoot up past 98.0 after ovulation and pregnancy. So, that is pretty accurate.....having low temps and a wacky thyroid level. Really glad you mentioned that!

Again, According, welcome welcome welcome and I hope you get to feel the support on here! This thread and group of ladies have gotten me through some tough days!

I am still here. I check up on you ladies every day
I just wasn't sure if I should still be commenting as frequently. I want to be sensitive to everyone here.

I have an early ultrasound on Tuesday to properly date the pregnancy (if you remember, I ovulated late that cycle, so the last menstrual period method wouldn't be accurate). I am nervous of course. I hope everything is ok. We should be able to see an embryo and maybe even a heart beat if all is ok. I think I will be about 6 weeks.

Britt,
I think you should go with your gut. If you have a good feeling about this cycle and you don't want to wait for the testing, then don't! Maybe there is a good reason you feel so strongly about trying this cycle.

Michelle and Melissa,
I am sorry your DHs are being difficult. Both probably just need a little time. Your baby dreams will still become a reality, I'm sure. Sometimes I think men handle TTC stress differently. They put on a brave front for as long as they can, but then they explode from bottling up their feelings. Give them time. Everything will be ok.

AFM,
My fingers are crossed for all of you.

According: I have two clotting disorders discovered when I almost bled to death having my first son. Lots of women who have several miscarriages find out it is because they have a clotting disorder that is undiagnosed and untreated.

Just wanted to let you know that there is hope. I have had two children since then and a miscarriage. We are trying for our last child and I take a baby aspirin every day. I switch over to injectibles when I have a confirmed pregnancy.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to send me a message if you want. Some of the things the doctor tells you might be frightening. Just know that people with clotting orders do go on to have healthy babies.

There you are Jazzy! While I totally appreciate where you're coming from, don't think you shouldn't still be a part of our group! You started our thread so, don't disappear! We want you here!

So, we have felt the pinch of this "fiscal cliff" here in the States. My hubby and I are losing $200 a month to the increased Social Security taxes effective January 1st. That changes my mind completely about having another baby. In crunching our numbers, it just isn't possible. Our 10 year old is getting braces in April....and we still have some bills we need to pay off and take care of. Hubby is really surprised by my change of heart....but when I saw our paychecks, reality hit me....and hit hard.

Hubby says to wait and see....see what we can afford. Surprising because now that I'm on "his page"....he is consoling me! I swear he can't make up his mind about TTC!

I am grateful because we do have one child...but one lonely child! He's been wanting a sibling since he was 4...we just have been so unsuccessful giving him one. Our son is very active....we have a close supportive family...but he yearns for a little brother or sister. I feel for him....I do....which puts me in a hard place.

For now....tightening up the reigns....no spending! I have to rip myself away from the Vera Bradley store.........!! AAAAHHHHHH!!!
