The Wannabe Mamas!

I am starting this thread for a group of ladies that already frequently communicate through journals and PMs. Since we already stalk one another's journals and countdown pages... I thought it might be nice for us to have a discussion forum, where we can frequently communicate our day to day ups and downs. Please re-introduce yourself and give us a summary of your journey to date!

My story:
DH and I have been TTC #1 since June 2012. In October, we found out that DH has a varicocele causing poor morphology (1-2%). This makes it difficult for us to conceive on our own. We are on some looong wait lists to see specialists. We need to see a urologist about possible surgery and a fertility specialist about possible IUI or IVF. Right now we are loking at 8-10 month wait times, but we might be able to get DH into a urologist much sooner if we can get into a clinic in the next province over. We are currently working toward making that happen! The surgery has about 50/50 odds of working. But we are hoping it works for us!

Mellissa I am so glad you are doing better emotionally and everything is getting lined up, and I wish I had some warm tea right now too...maybe I will go make some :) That always seems to make the world a better place :)

Some of the girls are getting close to finding out the gender especially if they do the early ultrasound. For myself, we are not finding out the gender. We are just so happy to be expecting that we will be happy with either and we have boy and girl everything(clothes) anyways. I thought it would be hard to not find out the gender but right now most every one doesn't even know I am pregnant so I guess I am used to the secret of it all :)

Melissa - happy to hear you had your scan done and that you feel like you're in a good place and are feeling good! Keep us posted when you get your results! I've been thinking about you a lot!

Britt - I don't know if I could wait! Haha! I have much respect for your patience! If I could know the gender now I would!

So yeah, we'll be finding out :) I went for my 10 week Wednesday the 27th and I was shocked I didn't get an ultrasound. I had one at 6w4d and one at 7w4d, but none since. When she did my exam she said that my uterus is tipped backwards and was still really low so she wasn't sure if I'd pick up on the Doppler. After a long wait she finally picked up the heartbeat. It was ranging from 172 to 176. I breathed a sigh of relief! Then she told me because of my shots and my blood thinning issues I would be sent to a perinatal specialist for my second trimester. Probably until the anatomy scan. So I have my first appointment with them on Monday at 1:30. They said it would be an ultrasound (yay!!!) and a consultation. My doctor wants to make sure the placenta has developed properly and that it's clot free. So they'll be monitoring me. Not sure how often I'll see them but I'm really hoping with the ultrasounds that I'll get to find out baby's gender sooner. If not I think we're going to schedule a 3-d ultrasound during my 15th week because we'll be with my whole family for mothers day and we thought that would be a fun time to announce to everyone. Assuming baby cooperates, of course ;)

And Melissa- the Vera Bradley baby line is driving me crazy! I HAVE to have a girl now! I can't put a son in tutti frutti or the pink colors! Haha! I have requested already the new diaper bag in tutti frutti. I LOVE it! I think after Monday I'm going to feel like I've passed the first trimester hurdles. But I say that every time and still worry. I'm getting close be being out though! 2 more weeks!!

Talk to you all soon!!

Hi girls...

Bad news on my gallbladder....

My ejection fraction rate is 5%....and normal is between 35-70%. So I'm really abnormal!

I actually just found out and am doing research online, so I don't have any info past this. My doctor says I don't HAVE to have my gallbladder removed, as I do not have gallstones, but....if it gets to the point where I am having a lot of painful episodes....I may need it out.

I'm just trying to research healthier ways to handle a low functioning gallbladder....diet changes and such. I really do NOT want to have any elective surgery if I don't really need to.

My doctor of course referred me out to a GI specialist....cause he can't handle anything past the common cold! UGH! Yet another appt. to sit months to wait for.

Melissa, I am sorry for that news. I hope you can get back on top soon and some good news will come for you. (hug)

I had my 15 week apt today, every thing is checking out great so we told everyone our big news. It feels good to let it out now.

It's been about 3 weeks since we all chatted....hope all is going smoothly for you all whether you're pregnant or still trying!

I just wanted to check in to update on my huge sprint of getting everything settled medically before TTC in the summer....

I had my first of a few doctors appointments today to check out a small little fatty mass that has been growing on my upper back (a lipoma). It's totally benign....I have known that! But, it's bugging me....I notice the small bump....so my surgery to remove it is scheduled for June 21st,....the first day of summer vacation for teaching. I'll have a week to recover before I start teaching summer school.....what a great week "vacation"...LOL. So, one doctors appointment down....and 3 more to go!

I'll see my endocrinologist, GI doctor and rheumotologist within the next 2 weeks. My endo did blood tests to check my hormone levels, A1C, insulin and thyroid levels....hopefully those all come back within normal limits! I'll find out next Monday....!

I'll be picking up my last NuvaRing later this week....so then I can get back on track to ovulate and see what happens this summer.

Hubby and I discussed that this year and next would be our last efforts. We both will be 35 and our son will be nearing a pre-teen.....so I think we have tried our hardest and will accept being a family of 3 if our last ditch efforts go unsuccessful. Life it what it is........and we are thankful to wake up healthy each day.....so I'm happy with that!

Hi Melissa! I've been thinking about you a lot lately and was so happy to hear from you! Sounds like you are doing better and are getting everything lined up for some summer ttc'ing! I know you will be happy to have all your tests out of the way so that you can get back to it. Hopefully a couple months of normal cycles will help you with getting back on track and you'll have some summer luck :). I've been thinking about you and sending you happy vibes!

Hope everyone else is doing well! Long time here! I'm about 15 weeks now and about to head my tiny baby bump to Disney world with my whole family starting this weekend for a week. Should be fun and while I'm a little bummed to miss out on the rides I'm so thankful for this opportunity that I just don't care about missing out because this is all that I have been praying for. I feel like I'm starting to feel baby move a little bit, but until I really think its baby moving I just tell myself it's my imagination, but I hope it's not!

Hope all is well and I think about you all often and send you all happy thoughts wherever you are on this journey!

Hi Lisa!

I started feeling my son about 15-16 weeks while I was laying on my tummy reading in bed! So, I'm sure that is what you're feeling!! The words to describe the emotions I felt are still so hard to put down...but it was a truly pivotal point in my pregnancy....so enjoyable and downright amazing. Now I have a big goof of a 10 year old who is glued to his mini iPad face-timing with his school friends about homework. LOL!

Thank you for the supportive thoughts and for thinking of me! I'm glad to be getting everything done this month...and the surgery next month. Lipomas run in my family (thanks Dad!) so, surgery is pretty common for us with it! We all use the same plastic surgeon too. Hopefully my son won't inherit the stupid little fatty masses! :)

Have a GREAT time in Disney!! Are you revealing the sex of the baby then?? How are you going to do it??

Hi ladies!

I have been wondering how everyone is doing almost a year and a half after this thread was first started. Wondering where everyones story ended up going!

My husband and I ended up getting pregnant in June of 2013....had a horrible pregnancy....constantly bled red and heavy, had ultrasounds every other week, saw a high risk specialist a few times because of the bleeding (had a subchorionic hematoma that measured almost 10cm next to the baby), started having preterm labor at 20 weeks, stayed in the hospital 4 times and ended up delivering a healthy baby boy at 39 weeks 5 days. The irony. The delivery was painful and extremely fast....we arrived at the hospital at 10:30am and our little Logan was born at 12:04pm...less than 2 hours of even being there!

Now Logan is almost 4 months and its been a huge change in our lives! We now have two children....one is 11 years old and now our LO is 16 weeks. Large age span but, it works surprisingly! I am exhausted, but enjoying "starting over"!

How are all of you ladies doing?? Update when you can!

So happy your pregnancy ended with a healthy, happy boy!! We also had a little boy, Colin, last October. He is starting to crawl now. It's wild! I had a pretty good pregnancy all things considered. Daily progesterone and lovenox shots in the first trimester and saw a specialist throughout my pregnancy with ultrasounds every 4 weeks. They estimated a big baby so I was induced at 39 weeks. 36 hours later Colin was born 8lbs4oz. 3rd degree tears after pushing for 3.5 hrs and an episiotomy. A week later caught a cold that ruined my stitches and recovery and I had lots of issues. Saw a surgeon and had a repeat episiotomy in January (my ghost baby). It was very painful and still hurts. And I'm still having problems and have not been released to work yet. Found a great surgeon and am having tests done next week to see the extent of the damage. Essentially I'm missing muscle and it causes a gap that makes kind of a communal area downstairs. The only way to fix is to recut and restitch again. But that comes with more risks. So we'll have to have a long conversation with the surgeon to make a decision on next steps. It's been a long recovery but I love my son and he's worth it all!! Can't wait to hear how everyone else is doing!
